Throughout the years he worked for both Hilton Hotels and Hyatt Hotels Corporation before becoming one of the founding members of The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company in 1983.

During his tenure at The Ritz Carlton, Mr. Schulze served as President and COO responsible for the $2 billion operations worldwide. Under his leadership, The Ritz Carlton Hotel Company was awarded the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award- twice- making it the first and only hotel company to ever win and was continuously voted “best hotel company in the world” by meeting and other trade publications. He held customer service to the highest regard, creating the legendary Ritz motto “We are ladies and gentleman, serving ladies and gentleman“ that lives on today. Horst was also recognized as “corporate hotelier of the world“ by HOTELS magazine. Horst is the author of Excellence Wins, a book Verne named one of the best 5 business books of 2019.
